UH Arts' Summer Digital Artist Residency provides an online platform for artists to develop new artwork in the digital realm.

We are delighted that artist Maria Meyer will share her creative journey of ideas and artworks in response to the theme Grounding us to Earth through the Digital. In our increasingly digital world, how can we stay connected and grounded? How might someone remain in contact with Earth – the soil, the planet and other humans?

You are invited to join Meyer’s journey from 7 June until the end of August through bi-weekly Instagram posts on @unihertsarts; a Zoom workshop on Thursday 22 July; leading to a final event to present research with a Q&A on Thursday 30 September. There is no stipulation to produce a finalised work; rather this residency is about a process.

Meyer seeks to explore University’s campuses - encompassing the diverse habitats, grasslands, woodlands and lakes. The artist will gather materials by collecting images, audio recordings purposefully at different times of the day. The artists will explore these materials through moving image, digital collage and pattern to develop the project.

Maria answered a few questions on her artwork and project - to find out more please see Maria's Meet the Artist interview.
